Robert “Bob” Allen Mitchell, 63, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly April 19, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Bob was born March 28, 1949 in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Clarence and Wilma (Whirledge) Mitchell.
Bob graduated from Concord High School, Elkhart, Ind. in 1967. Upon his high school graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. Bob then moved to Three Rivers where he was employed at Hudsonville Ice Cream and Schwan’s Food Service.
He owned and operated the Downtown Dip and Dunk Restaurant for over 12 years. Bob was most recently employed as night manager of the Super 8 Hotel for the past 12 years. He was also a former Three Rivers Commissioner and a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Truck and Car Museum of Auburn, Ind.
Bob was predeceased by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Nancy Faigh of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; niece, Michele (Kirk) Mathewson of Elkhart, Ind.; great-nephews, Collin and Nicholas Crume of Elkhart, Ind.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends may gather Wednesday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m. at the Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, MI 49093. Military Honors to follow at 11 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
