Carol Jo (Holtz) Sandy, age 65, of Sturgis, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 1, 2012, at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago.
She was born Oct. 12, 1946, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Rambadt) Holtz.
Carol was a lifelong Sturgis resident and had been employed by Dometic Corporation in LaGrange, Ind., for 35 years until health reasons caused her to retire early.
Carol enjoyed the monthly Dometic retirees luncheons, flower gardening and reading. She loved her Cockapoo, Sadie, and truly cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Trissi Paredes of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Jennifer Paredes, Tylor Paredes, Breezi Barajas, Delvia Ortiz, Jose Romero and Jasmine Romero; a great-grandson, Armando Paredes; a sister, Janice (Robert) Riddle of Sturgis; a brother, James Holtz of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Holtz.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Carol Jo Sandy will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Bender of First Baptist Church in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
