Centreville looking for new president

The village of Centreville is looking for a new president to lead its village council.

Barb Parker, a council member for 15 years – including the last seven as president – announced her resignation Monday.

Parker said she was not planning to seek re-election later this year, but decided to resign for family and other reasons. Parker said she would also like to dedicate more time to her church.

For now, Parker said she plans to remain a member of the village’s planning and zoning commission, which comes with fewer time-related commitments than her role on the village council.

The council’s new president is former pro-tem Eric Weis. Municipal leaders hope to fill the vacant council seat as soon as possible.
