Man arrested for intent to assault wife

A 31-year-old Three Rivers man was arrested for solicitation with intent to assault his pregnant wife, to cause a miscarriage or stillbirth.

According to Three Rivers Police, a man in early May told officers the suspect wanted to hire him to assault his pregnant wife and cause her to have a miscarriage. Numerous meetings were recorded between the two, police said.

They were able to finalize the details and payments of the assault, which were $150 down and $150 final payment after the job was complete, according to police. The incident was to happen sometime after Wednesday, police said. The suspect’s name is being withheld, pending arraignment.

The suspect and his wife had been in the process of divorcing, police said, and a pending paternity test had delayed the proceedings. The woman was reported to be three months pregnant at the time and was made aware of the ongoing investigation.
