Ron Labram, 82

Ronald R. Labram, age 82, of Mendon, died Monday April 30, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Detroit on Feb. 19, 1930 the son of Charles and Vivian (Hilton) Labram and attended Detroit Schools. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in Alaska. Ron was married to Ella Jepsen on Sep. 11, 1955 at the West Mendon United Methodist Church where they have been members since their marriage. Ron had been employed by General Motors/Fisher Body in Kalamazoo where he was a tool and die maker. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, helping family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, Ella; five children, Cheryl (Sam) Serra of Battle Creek, Stephanie (Brooks) Gregory, Michelle Fambro, Kirsten (Paul) Russell, and Richard Labram all of Mendon; nine grandchildren, Bridgette, Colin, and Zeke Gregory, Rachel and Lindsey Fambro, Sabrina, Christian, Alexis, and Garrett Russell; a sister, Lillian Merrick of Kalamazoo; a brother, Frank (Judy) Labram of Anniston, AL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles and Laurie Labram.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday May 3, 2012 at the West Mendon United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Military interment will take place in Dutton Cemetery with honors provided by American Legion Hice-Shutes Post 170. Memorials may be directed to either the West Mendon United Methodist Church, or to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be left for the family at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
