Allen Lewis, 90

Allen Marcus Lewis, age 90, of Mendon, died Tuesday June 26, 2012 at his home. He was born in Three Rivers on Sep. 3, 1921 the son of Marcus V. and Ethel (Bowersox) Lewis, and attended Mendon Schools. He served in the U.S. Army in England, France, and Germany during WWII. He was married to Beatrice May Butler on March 20, 1946 at the Center Park Church. Allen engaged in general farming and was an electrician, retiring from ARCO Industries in Schoolcraft. He enjoyed fishing, and cruising St. Joseph County in his pick-up truck.

Allen is survived by three sons, David (Marie) Lewis of Three Rivers, Douglas (Linda) Lewis of Scotts, and Mark (Brenda) Lewis of Mendon; two daughters, Karen Gingerich of Three Rivers, and Linda (Randy) Foster of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriett Taylor of Centreville; a brother, Gallen (Mary) Lewis of Fond du Lac, WI; and long time companion, Bonnie Gose of Vicksburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice; two sisters, Elsie Taylor and June Klopfenstein; and a brother, Robert Lewis.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday July 2, 2012 in Mendon Cemetery with military honors provided by Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170 of Three Rivers.
