Couples attend county parks

St. Joseph County has reached an agreement with two couples who will serve as attendants at two county parks.

Ronald and Denise Franklin, and their son, will serve as attendants at Nottawa County Park Campground at Sand Lake through Labor Day weekend. The seasonal job will allow them to spend the summer at the campground and enforce campground rules and regulations with the location’s guests.

Meanwhile, Daniel and Sarah Hershberger will occupy the house on Roberts Road at Meyer Broadway Park on a month-to-month basis and serve as superintendents of the property.

In exchange, their rent will be $400 a month. Their obligations will include opening the park-entrance gate at dawn and closing it at dusk, and enforcing park rules.
