David Willis, 64

David L. Willis, 64, of White Pigeon, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2012. He had suffered a massive heart attack on May 17, two days after his 64th birthday.

He was born May 15, 1948, in Sturgis, a son of Elmer L. and Margaret L. (Beach) Willis.

He had been a resident of the White Pigeon area most of his life.

He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army.

He was employed in law enforcement all his life. He served as chief of police in Colon and Burr Oak, St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and was most recently employed in security at Howe Military School.

David had a great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed family dinners and interaction with all his nieces and nephews in the family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his mother, Margaret L. Willis of White Pigeon; three sisters, Janet (Tim) Reid of Howe, Ind., Laura (Sam) Jackson of White Pigeon, and Elaine Willis of Bristol, Ind.; three brothers, Gary Willis of White Pigeon, Glenn Willis of Grandville and Donald Willis of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Sharon Willis.

Graveside services and interment will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at White Pigeon Township Cemetery. Pastor Scott Manning of the White Pigeon United Methodist Church will officiate.

Arrangements are by Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.
