Esther Hyde, 90

Esther Alice Hyde, age 90, of Centreville, passed away Friday, June 1st, 2012 at Fairview Assisted Living Center in Centreville, where she received loving and wonderful care. She was born in Blue Island, IL on October 14, 1921, the daughter of Eric and Esther Maria (Norling) Danielson. She graduated from Blue Island High School in 1939. On April 20, 1940 she married Milfred “Bud” Hyde in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2004. Esther was employed at the Department of Ag. in Centreville from 1945-1982. She previously worked at Marshall Fields in Chicago IL from 1938-1940.

Esther was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church where she served as an organist and pianist since 1958. She was also a member of the Florence Women’s Club, was active in the Band Boosters and supported World Vision and St. Joe County Youth for Christ. In 1990 Esther was the Granny Queen of the Farmers Hall of Fame.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother Alice Danielson, son Arthur M. Hyde, sisters Marie Lewis, Helen Hyde, and brothers Eric L. Danielson, Carl Freeman, and Victor Freeman. She is survived by her daughter Mildred “Mimi” Rigdon, Centreville, daughter-in-law Sandra (Ed) Hyde Swanson, Grand Rapids, grandsons Gregory J. Miner, Sebring, FL, T.Scott Miner, Alabama, Earl (Melynda) Rigdon, Sebring, FL, Eric A. (Kimberly) Hyde, Grand Rapids, Brian L. (Jen) Hyde, Williamsburg, VA, Kevin M. (Amelia) Hyde, Chicago, granddaughter Michelle Rigdon, Centreville, goddaughter Amy C. Blake of Jackson Miss, twin brother Theodore Golling, Los Angeles, CA, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. A Going Home Celebration will be held Saturday at 11 am at the Centreville United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Karin Orr officiating. Interment will be in Moorepark Cemetery.
