Rex Allen Post, age 56, of Sturgis, passed away early Wednesday evening, June 6, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 15, 1955 in Highland Park, a son of William and Jodie (Hill) Post.
Rex resided in Sturgis since 1980. Prior to coming to Sturgis, he lived in Centreville from 1969-1980 and was a graduate of Centreville High School with the class of 1973. His early life was spent in Highland Park.
On Sept. 24, 1994, he married Marcia Furey at Sturgis Wesleyan Church in Sturgis.
For over 20 years, Rex was self employed in the floor installation business. He had also worked at Grumman Olson, International Paper and Federal Paper, all in Sturgis.
Rex enjoyed woodworking, working out and time spent with his family. He always had time for others and received great joy when he was able to help someone in need. Rex had a total commitment and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 19 years, Marcia; two daughters, Lindsay (Brian) Lash and Amy (Brandon) Kinsey, both of Sturgis; two sons, Scott Post of Sturgis and Joe (Kelly) Kroll of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Andrew Lash, David Lash, Brendon Kinsey, Alivia Kinsey, Vivian Kinsey, Caleb Kroll, Logan Kroll and Lillian Kroll; his mother, Jodie Post of New Baltimore; three sisters, Jan (Michael) Schwarz of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Nancy Post and Carol Post, both of Kalamazoo; a brother, Bill (Gail) Post of New Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday and 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Sturgis Evangelical Church, 29201 E. Fawn River Road in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Rex Post will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Rodger Moyer will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
