Scidmore Park playground to reopen

Three Rivers city officials said they expect Scidmore Park playground to reopen this weekend after a five-day undertaking to improve the playground surface.

Assistant Engineer Merritt Brown said the task involved removing the entire covering of wood chips and replacing the surface area with crumb rubber.

Work started Monday and has involved a number of volunteers. Brown said Jamie Clark, president of CMS Trucking, was the impetus behind the task and has agreed to purchase the crumb rubber and offer use of his equipment.

Also lending a hand are Cobalt of Sturgis, Northern Construction Services Corp., L.D. Docsa Inc., local contractor Tony Mayer, the Three Rivers Department of Public Services and the Twin County Probation Center.
