Wanda J. Fox, age 87, a 60-year resident of Burr Oak, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1924, in Flint, a daughter of the late Jake and Vera (Bell) Smart.
In 1947, she was united in marriage to Raymond “Pete” Fox in Centreville. He preceded her in death.
Wanda had been employed by Doerr Electric in Burr Oak for more than 20 years and at Burr Oak Lounge for 15 years. She was a member of Burr Oak United Methodist Church and Burr Oak Grange.
Surviving are a daughter, Vera Rianda of Eugene, Ore.; a grandson, Destin (Anna) Greenstreet of Eugene; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Root of Burr Oak; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Merlin and Norval Smart; two sisters, Joanne Curtis and Genevieve Hudson.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Services celebrating the life of Wanda J. Fox will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Burr Oak United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donald Graham officiating.
Private graveside services and interment will take place at a later date.
The family suggest memorial donations be directed to the funeral home to help with expenses.
