Woman arrested for assault

A 27-year-old Three Rivers woman was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail after defying an officer’s request and attacking him.

The Three Rivers Police Department said officers were responding to a noise complaint at a residence in the 1400 block of Fourth Street, when the woman was asked to not walk in the street and to use the sidewalk instead.

Near the intersection at Liberty Street, officers found the woman was still walking in the roadway. As an officer attempted to question and identify the woman, she attacked him, according to police.

The officer was injured, though the extent and nature of injuries were not disclosed.

The woman, whose name was not released pending arraignment, was charged with assault on an officer and three counts of resisting and obstructing.
