Ardis J. Philo, age 84, of Colon, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at her home, after an extended illness.
Ardis was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Hillsdale County, a daughter of the late Otto and Louise (Beem) Wasnich.
Ardis graduated from Reading High School with the class of 1946.
On Feb. 18, 1955, she married Walter Philo in Quincy.
Ardis had made her home in Colon most all of her adult life. She retired from the Colon post office as a rural route carrier and clerk after more than 25 years of federal service.
She was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church of Colon and of the Amos Sturgis Chapter D.A.R. of Sturgis.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Philo of Colon; a daughter, Sharron, and son-in-law, Mike Zidek, of Lorton, Va.; a son, John Philo of Colon; and a brother, Noyle Wasnich of Union City.
A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Colon, with the Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Private burial of ashes will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Ardis to either St. Barbara’s Catholic Church or the Amos Sturgis Chapter D.A.R. Envelopes will be available at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon or at the church the day of the service.
