Betty F. Challinor, 85, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Pleasant Lake.
Betty was born April 14, 1927 in Boyertown, Pa., to the late C. Foreman and Grace Geisler Ruppert. Betty met her late husband, Arthur William Challinor (deceased March 1, 2009), at Topton Lutheran Home and they were married in Boyertown, Pa., on June 19, 1946.
Betty participated in the World War II “Cadet Nurse Corps Program” and became a registered nurse from Reading, Pa. Memorial Hospital. Betty’s nursing career included OB/GYN at St. Joseph Hospital of Mishawaka and Wheelhorse. During her 62 years in River Park, Betty enjoyed piano, organ, and swimming at Pro Health and Pleasant Lake. Friends, family and neighbors enjoyed her baking especially at Christmas time.
Survivors include her four children, Gloria Eller of Angleton, Texas, Richard (Yvonne) Challinor of New Carlisle, Martha Challinor of Alexandria, Va., and Esther Lowe of Three Rivers; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Hohner Funeral Home, LLC at Three Rivers is assisting the family with cremation rites. There will be no visitation or service. The family has requested anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution to donate to the American Red Cross or other charity of their choice.
