St. Joseph County’s Board of Commissioners has set a deadline of Thursday for citizen-interest forms from anyone in District 2 wishing to join the commission through the end of the year.
Commissioners decided last week to set the deadline, as they have less than three weeks to fill the seat vacated by 20-year Commissioner Gerald Loudenslager, who resigned to take the post of Nottawa Township supervisor.
His replacement is scheduled to be chosen at the commission’s July 17 meeting, where prospective candidates will be invited to address commissioners about their interest in the position, which expires at the end of the year.
District 2 covers Leonidas, Colon and Nottawa townships, and Mendon Township south of M-60.
Citizen-interest forms for prospective successors to Loudenslager’s seat are available on the county’s website, at stjosephcountymi.org.
