Devon “Don” L. Albin, 87, of Marcellus, passed away on June 28, 2012.
He was born on July 6, 1924 in Nappanee, Ind. to Jesse and Elsie (Bleile) Albin. On Nov. 23, 1968 he married Louise (Butchbaker) Rentfrow.
A farmer and salesman all his life, Don also served in the U.S. Army, sold Electrolux vacuums and worked for Honeycrust Bakery. A true entrepreneur, he worked alongside his wife Louise at their businesses, Don’s Furniture City in Three Rivers and Albin Farms Meats at the Mendon and Three Rivers farm markets. He was a faithful member of the Wakelee United Methodist Church, Cass County Farm Bureau, and Post 170 American Legion.
He will surely be missed by his wife, Louise; sisters, Doris Kirchner and Dolly (Larry) Pletcher; children, Leota (Frank) Mast, David (Jenny) Rentfrow, Dennis Rentfrow, Daryl (Charlene) Rentfrow; all of his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Allen and Pat Butchbaker; his many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Verle.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 2 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday July 3 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor John D. Messner of the Wakelee United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcellus Cemetery with the American Legion Post 170, Three Rivers conducting Military Rites.
