A grass fire Sunday afternoon was the seventh within a week in the county.
Crews from the Fabius-Park Townships Fire Department were quickly able to extinguish the weekend blaze, which covered a small area near North Fisher Lake Road.
During the Fourth of July period last week, grass fires were extinguished by the department. Agency officials said fireworks were responsible for grass fires at Long and Fishers lakes.
Fire personnel from Constantine, meanwhile, put out a blaze in a wheat field triggered by farm machinery Wednesday along Withers Road. A 20-acre area of a wheat field burned in a separate fire Wednesday off Lutz Road. That blaze also was started by a combination of farm equipment and extraordinary dry conditions.
