Harold Geark, 90

Harold James “Smokey” Geark, 90, of Three Rivers, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Three Rivers Health. Harold was born on July 29, 1921 in Three Rivers the son of Harvey H. and Ruth (Timm) Geark.

Harold was a lifetime resident of the Three Rivers area. He served his country in the U.S. Army Tech 4 Infantry during World War II and received many medals, including the Purple Heart for his outstanding service. Harold was employed at Weyerhaeuser for 25 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2302 and also a member of the American Legion Post #170. Harold was a volunteer for the Three Rivers Fire Department for 20 years as well.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Watson; infant brother, Rueben Geark; and two step-sons.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory wife, Gertrude (Butler) Geark of Three Rivers; daughter, Denise (James) Ferguson of Battle Creek; son, Steven (Joyce) Geark of Marcellus; step-sons, Paul, Keith, Bobby and Ronnie (Susan) Vanover; sister, Doris Herline of Three Rivers; niece, Sandra Timm; nephew, Gary Herline; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, at 1 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek with military honors preceding.
