Meth related arrests

Kalamazoo authorities seeking a man accused of making methamphetamine in a hotel room spent several hours negotiating with him and a woman he called his hostage but turned out to be his new wife. Police say they arrested the 49-year-old man and 46-year-old woman Tuesday night at a hotel in the southwestern Michigan city on charges related to the meth lab and outstanding warrants.  Officers said when they first tried to talk to the man he attempted to jump from a third-story window before retreating into his hotel room. Police say the suspect then told officers he had a hostage, and his meth lab would explode if they came in. Authorities say police negotiators convinced the couple to turn themselves in after more than six hours.  (AP)
