Michael K. Foster, age 69, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 23, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Battle Creek, a son to the late Gerald G. and Maxine V. (Reed) Foster.
Michael had been a resident of Sturgis since 1972 and had previously resided in Elkhart, Ind., for six years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
On Oct. 8, 1966, he married Wanda Troyer in Leonidas.
While living in Elkhart, he was a truck driver. After moving to Sturgis, he owned and operated Hi-Tone Carpet Cleaning in Burr Oak, then retired from Foster Wood Specialties in Sturgis.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, gambling at casinos and spending time at Charlie’s with the “Liars Club.”
Surviving are his wife: Wanda; two sons, Stephen Foster of LaGrange, Ind., and Gordon (Shannon) Foster of Sturgis; a daughter, Tonya (Ben Smoker) Foster of Bronson; grandchildren Austin, Tanner, Christopher, Caleb, Kimberlin, Paige, Blake, Brooklyn, Nick and Katie; and two brothers, Robert (Susan) Foster of Sturgis and Mitch (Connie) Foster of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kellie Renee; a brother, Norman; and a sister, Josephine.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Services celebrating the life of Michael K. Foster will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Hooley officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
