Vandalism incident in Sturgis

Five male subjects are being sought by Sturgis Police in connection with a vandalism incident that occurred in downtown Sturgis over the weekend.

Police said five males, about 16 or 17 years old, were seen by witnesses in the downtown area around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Later in the day, it was discovered that gang-related graffiti was sprayed on a building in the 500 block of Prairie Street and another in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street.

Victims indicated the cost to correct the damage would be about $3,000 for each building.

Police say a related incident was reported Monday, when it was discovered that the gazebo in Depot Park was damaged over the weekend. Police discovered safety rails were damaged and several planks on the floor were removed.
