Water Plant foam-over

The City of Three Rivers Clean Water Plant is reporting a foam-over incident from one of its treated biosolids tanks.

The process that caused the Wednesday morning discharge was shut down immediately and crews deployed drain blockers to prevent discharge into the storm sewers, plant officials said.

About 50 of the 2,300 gallons that spilled to the ground around the west side of the Clean Water Plant and South Lincoln Avenue entered the city’s sewer system. The incident prompted crews to immediately clean the street and grounds.

Wednesday’s incident is the second foam-over situation in less than a month. Clean water Plant officials said they are investigating interim control options and have called upon Thermal Process Systems, the designer of the process, to help with the control of future foam-over events.
