Authorities say a 23-year-old Kalamazoo woman lost part of her leg in a boating accident on a southwestern Michigan lake. Mlive.com and radio station WKZO identify her as Kirshaiah Brodie-Stevenson. She was in serious condition at a hospital Monday. Authorities say Brodie-Stevenson was riding a tube behind a boat Sunday afternoon on Austin Lake in the Kalamazoo suburb of Portage. The boat’s driver started backing up the vessel to retrieve some people in the water and didn’t see her. Authorities say Brodie-Stevenson was pulled into the boat’s propeller and under the water. People pulled her into the boat and called for help. Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies say her leg was severed near the knee.
