Duke, a puppy mill survivor

Meet Duke, a puppy mill survivor. Duke is a rescued four-year-old, blind Cocker Spaniel who is the product of a Missouri puppy mill. Duke was sold to unsuspecting owners who purchased him from a pet store at a cost in excess of $900. He had papers that were not registered with a recognized breed registry.

The owner turned to Up-Cycled Pets for help with the dog’s care and a new home since they were unable to pay for his excessive medical bills. Duke has the “Blue Merle” recessive gene, which means he was purposely bred to have his unusual black/brown color. This dog was bred too closely. He had cataracts in both eyes which made him go blind when he was 18 months old.

Duke is doing well now, but needs a good home with lots of loving care. To make a contribution toward Duke’s medical costs, or to fill out an adoption application for Duke, please visit www.upcycledpets.com.
