Lois Devlin, 40

Lois Jean (Burghduff) Devlin, age 40, of Centreville, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at her home following an 8 month battle with brain cancer. She was born in LaGrange, IN on February 16, 1972. Lois graduated from Sturgis High School in 1990, and married Jack Daryl Devlin on June 16, 1990. She worked as a Telecommunicator/Dispatcher at St. Joseph County Dispatch in Centreville since March 1995 until her early retirement in 2012. Lois was recently honored with multiple awards from the Michigan State Police, the State of Michigan and St. Joseph County for her years of service.

Lois attended Fish Lake Bible Church in Sturgis. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed scrap booking, cooking and camping. Lois was an active 4-H member and leader of the Fawn River Clovers, and most recently the Spirit Riders. She spent many hours working in the elementary reading programs, where she made many book donations. Lois loved time spent caring for and being with family and friends.

Surviving Lois are her husband Jack Devlin, Centreville, father Terrence (Jean) Burghduff, Morley, MI, mother Patricia (Marlin) Smith, Sturgis, daughters Hilarie Suzanne (Michael) Huschke, Midland, Samantha Jo Devlin, Centreville, Terri Lynn Devlin, Centreville, granddaughters Chelsea Bussard and Madison Huschke, siblings Gunnery Sgt. Robert Burghduff, Afghanistan, Scott Kolady, Sturgis, Doris Burghduff, Sturgis, Tammy Freeman, Atwood, IN, Richard McGorman, Morley, MI and Nancy McGorman, Chicago, IL, special great aunt Wanda (Edwin) Harker, Burr Oak, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded by grandparents, and a grandson Devlin Michael Huschke in March 2012.

Relatives and friends will be received at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and also Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Religious Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Firm Foundation Ministries in Centreville. Pastor Tim Brondyke of Fish Lake Bible Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joe County 4-H Horse Jumping Program, or to St. Joe County Animal Control Veterinarian Services.
