Man in custody

A 45-year-old man from Cass County was charged with a number of offenses after he was found in the company of a 15-year-old girl he allegedly courted through the Internet.

Cass County Sheriff’s Department investigators said Dean Young, who had recently moved from Arizona to a residence he shared with a friend in the unincorporated community of Union, was charged with criminal sexual conduct, possession of child pornography and using a computer for solicitation of a minor for immoral purposes.

Young was arrested Thursday night at a residence in the 71000 block of Spencer Drive. The juvenile, who ran away from her home in Monroe, N.Y., was taken into custody by sheriff’s officials. Her parents drove overnight from New York to pick her up, police said.

Young is in the Cass County Jail with bond set at $75,000.
