Michell A. VanVlerah, 53, of Three Rivers, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 29, 1958, in Tell City, Ind., to Nathan and Gladys (Shearn) Hale. She had been a resident of Three Rivers for the past seven years, coming from the White Pigeon and Mottville area.
She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Thurston Woods Village for 29 years. She also was employed at Wagners Grocery Store in White Pigeon.
She enjoyed sewing, arts, crafts, drawing and reading. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon.
Surviving are her mother, Gladys VanVlerah of Three Rivers; a brother, Jay (Karen) VanVlerah of Elkhart, Ind.; a sister, Sabra Smith of Allegan; two nephews; and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father; her adopted father, Ronald VanVlerah; and a brother, Nathan Hale.
Visitation will take place 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Private interment will be in Mottville Township Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Altine will officiate.
