Nancy J. Betcke, age 61, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Friday morning, Aug. 24, 2012, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was born Aug. 24, 1951, in Sturgis, Mich., daughter of the late, Albert and Betsy (Poley) Pierucki.
Nancy was a lifelong Sturgis area resident and a graduate of Centreville High School with the class of 1969. She continued her education at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville, Mich., receiving an associate’s degree in business.
She had been employed by Bronson Plastics for 18 years, Midwest Plastics for four years, Atwood Mobile Products for eight years and had also worked at the Sturgis A&W Root Beer stand.
Nancy attended the Fish Lake Bible Church in Sturgis. She enjoyed sporting events, bowling and playing pool and had participated in many American Pool Association leagues. What she truly loved was time spent with family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Betcke of Sturgis and Kathryn (Larry) Humphreys of Nottawa; one son, Chad (Shannon) Betcke of Sturgis; four grandchildren, Joshua Dudley, Brandon Jones, Alexis Bennett and Kourtney Bennett; one sister, Susan (Ken) Baretta of St. Joseph; three brothers, John (Pat) Pierucki of Centreville, Paul (Paula) Pierucki of Romania and Dan (Brenda) Pierucki of Portage and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Steve Ball.
The family will receive friends from 2–6 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Nancy Betcke will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Fish Lake Bible Church, 25108 Banker Street Rd., Sturgis, MI. The Rev. Tim Brondyke will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
