Patricia A. “Pat” Mitchell, age 77, died Saturday Aug. 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Three Rivers on Sep. 9, 1934 the daughter of Harry B. and Lois B. (Wetherbee) Mitts, and was a 1952 graduate of Three Rivers High School. She was married to John A. Mitchell on March 17, 1956 in Flint, IN. They resided in Mendon before moving to Fishers Lake in 1977 and to Lake Templene in 1986. Pat worked as an accountant in Three Rivers, and for G.W. Pizza in Mendon before becoming a full time homemaker. She returned to accounting in 1972 working at L.S.I. in Mendon until 1998.
Pat was a Brownie Scout Leader, a member of the Mendon P.T.A., and served as treasurer of the Mendon Band boosters for many years. She was an avid sports fan and booster of Mendon sports. She was a member of bowling leagues in both Vicksburg and Three Rivers. She enjoyed reading, gardening, antiquing, travel, and social gatherings with family and friends.
Pat is survived by four children, Cathy (Michael) Meagher of Manistee, Steve Mitchell of Mendon, Scott (Betsy) Mitchell of Findley, Ohio, and Kelly (Charles) Emmerich of Chagrin Falls, OH; six grandchildren, Maggie (Neal Roland) Mitchell, Kelly (Tricia Smith) Mitchell, Adelyn (Sam Belsterling) Emmerich, Andrea Emmerich, Mitchell Emmerich, and Patrick Meagher; 2 sisters, Diann (Larry) Davenport of Centreville and Marilyn “Jeannie” Niedzielski of Oshtemo; a brother in law, Doug Kaiser of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Dixie M. Kaiser.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and a private interment of ashes will take place later in Poe Cemetery. It is suggested that memorials be directed to Three Rivers Health Hospice, the Animal Rescue Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
