Three Rivers Fire Department Chief Dan Tomlinson has announced the agency has been awarded an improved rating by the Insurance Services Office.
As a result of the agency’s rating from Class 5 to Class 4 effective Aug. 1, insurance premiums for a number of residential, commercial and industrial property owners within the city limits could decrease.
Tomlinson said the ISO’s Class 4 ranking makes Three River Fire Department one of just 102 in the state to have earned such a standing.
He added that the city had received notice in April that the department’s initial-aid agreement reached with Fabius-Park Townships Fire Department was a critical component to earning the improve rating.
Tomlinson urged property owners to inquire with their insurance company regarding a potential decrease in rates.
