Don Dilts, 79

Donald E. Dilts, 79, of LaGrange, Ind., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Steuben County, Ind., to Clarence L. and Thelma M. (Coney) Dilts.

Don was retired from Ross Laboratory in Sturgis. He worked there for 26 years. He also was a farmer in Howe, Ind., for 40 years. Don served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215.

On Nov. 7, 1952, he married Mary Jane Young in Wolcottville, Ind. She survives in LaGrange.

Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Denise Dilts of LaGrange and Debra (Mark) Ulrich of LaGrange; a grandson, Kyle Ulrich of LaGrange; a sister, Barbara Randall of LaGrange; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Dilts of Pleasant Lake, Ind.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Schuyler Dilts.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Carldean Merrifield officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. with the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 performing military rites.

Visitation for Don will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be contributed to the ARK Animal Shelter or to the Lakeland athletic department, c/o the basketball and tennis programs.
