A group of owners of four residences in Fabius Township were recently named recipients of the inaugural Green Star Award.
Presented by Vic Eichler, chair of the Fabius Township Environmental and Wetlands Protection Advisory Committee, the Green Star Award recognizes Fabius Township property owners who have developed exemplary, natural lakefront shorelines.
Recipients at last week’s township board meeting were Kaiser Lake residents Becky Shank, and Bob and Jane Reetz; Bill and Charlene Chase at Corey Lake; and Jim and Judy Eiferts at Clear Lake.
Eichler said natural landscaping for shorelines helps maintain the rural character of the area, protects properties from erosion, increases the value of the property, and provides feeding and breeding grounds for native animals.
The township hopes to distribute another round of Green Star Awards in 2013, Eichler said.
