Harold Elwood Frohriep, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 10, 2012, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Burr Oak Township, a son of the late Arthur and Agnes (Niles) Frohriep.
Harold was a lifelong Burr Oak Township resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1942.
He was a truck driver by trade and truly loved his work. He had driven for Squires Distributing, Shepard Products and PKG.
Harold loved the outdoors, animals and visiting with people and enjoyed drinking his beer.
He is survived by his partner and caregiver, Donna Weinberg; three sons, Wayne (Lori) Frohriep of Sturgis, Larry Frohriep of Sturgis and David (Cindy) Frohriep of Bronson; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mabel Frohriep of Houston; and two nieces, Donna Jean Reeb and Sharon Frohriep, both of Sturgis.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside services celebrating the life of Harold Elwood Frohriep and burial of the ashes will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis will officiate.
