Man arrested for meth

A 47-year-old Sturgis man was arrested on drug-related charges after he attempted to flee on a bicycle from pursuing officers.

According to the Sturgis Police Department, the man was known to have warrants for his arrest and was spotted around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on his bicycle near the intersection of North and West West streets. He fled from police after being pursued on foot and later by a squad car. He was eventually apprehended near the intersection of West Chicago and South Clay streets.

Police discovered the man to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana in ready-to-sell packaging.

The man, whose name was not released, was charged with possession of meth and marijuana with intent to distribute, three counts of resisting officers and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was wanted on two undisclosed warrants, as well.
