Maxine Schowalter, 93

Maxine Schowalter, 93, of Sturgis, died at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Thurston Woods Village, Sturgis.

She was born March 9, 1919, in Hugo, Colo., to Claud and LaVina (Bradfield) Wilson.

On May 28, 1942, she married Fred Schowalter in Pueblo, Colo. He died Jan. 14, 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheryl (Larry) Gingerich of White Pigeon; a son, Mike (Elsie) Schowalter of Three Rivers; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor (Darryl) Harrison of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two brothers, Wendell (Anne) Wilson of Billings, Mont., and Mahlon (Becky) Wilson of Puyallup, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Willa Dean Whitmore, Martha Ellen Snelling, Verna Lee Wilson and Mary Clowe; and a brother, Jay Wilson.

She was a member of Middlebury Church of the Brethren and an executive secretary for the Civil Services.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main St., Middlebury, Ind. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday also at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Kirk Harrison. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
