Ronald “Sim” R. Adams, age 86, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully early Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at the Riverview Manor surrounded by his family. He was born in Allegan, MI. on May 14, 1926 the son of the late Raymond and Lizzie Adams.
Sim graduated from Allegan High School in 1944, where he was very active in sports and later from Western Michigan University, majoring in business. He then entered the U.S. Air Force and served in the Philippine Islands as a Sergeant 13th Division during WWII. On April 23, 1949 he married the late Doloras J. Helpin and spent fifty-two wonderful years together.
Sim was a long time member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He loved Notre Dame football, Tiger’s baseball, playing golf, and his loving family. Sim was employed for thirty-years as operation manager with Servomation Vending Machine Company of Kalamazoo, MI.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doloras in 2007, five sisters and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, two sons, Blake F. Adams, of Three Rivers and Randall P. “Randy” Adams, of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Kristen Adams-Gonzales and David K. Adams; one great-granddaughter, Kirra Gonzales as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5th 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6th, 2012 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 321 N. Main St., Three Rivers, with the Rev. Canon Meredith Hunt officiating.
Inurnment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.
