Theft of items in Sherman Township

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a larceny incident that took place last week in Sherman Township.

Investigators said an unlocked garage and barn were entered in the early morning hours Friday in the 23000 block of Wilson Road. Two chain saws, a drill and an assortment of hand tools were taken from the garage.

In addition, vehicles parked in front of the garage were entered. Personal papers, along with coins, vehicle keys and a full five-gallon gas can all were removed from one of the unlocked vehicles.

Sheriff’s officials are recommending people lock their automobiles at night, especially if the vehicles are left outdoors.
