Accident causes injuries

A two-car accident Monday afternoon east of Centreville resulted in a local woman and two children seeking medical treatment.

According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’ Department, a 31-year-old Sturgis woman was driving east on M-86 when her vehicle was struck by an 80-year-old White Pigeon woman shortly after 3 p.m.

The White Pigeon woman was attempting to turn west onto M-86 from Shimmel Road and did not see the oncoming vehicle. Her vehicle struck the passenger’s side door of the car driven by the Sturgis woman.

She and her two passengers, ages 10 and 8, were treated for minor injuries at Sturgis Hospital.

The White Pigeon motorist was not injured. She was cited for failure to yield.
