Area football teams in playoffs

A trio of area high school football teams will move on to the second week of the playoffs after posting wins over the weekend.

Three Rivers will hit the road to play Williamston after the Wildcats upset Battle Creek Pennfield Friday night, 20-14.

Meanwhile, Constantine also gained a road win Friday, beating Watervliet, 48-33. The Falcons will face a stiff test next, as they head to Schoolcraft to take on the undefeated Eagles.

In other action, Mendon had little trouble topping Colon Saturday afternoon, 41-0. With the win – the Hornets’ 24th in a row – Mendon is on a collision course with Climax-Scotts in a game to be played in Mendon. Both schools are 10-0 on the season.

St. Joseph Valley League member Bronson bowed out Friday night after losing to undefeated Hillsdale, 44-22.

Times and dates for the next round will be announced today by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
