Grace Irene Tyler, age 60, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2012, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born April 25, 1952, in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of the late Walter and Irene (Chaney) Salton Sr.
Grace resided in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area since 1987. On Dec. 27, 1987, she married George Tyler in Parchment.
Since 1993, she had worked with the Gateway Shoppers Guide and she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Grace was a member of Grandview Bend Campground and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and crafts. Grace was always happiest when she was helping others.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 25 years, George; a daughter, Theresa (Scott) Reed of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Dominic Reed, Ashlyn Reed and Christopher Salton, all of Sturgis; her loving extended family, Mary and Lloyd Tyler of Burr Oak, Shirley Cook of Zephyrhills, Fla., Pat Tyler of Coldwater and Butch and Doris Tyler of Kalamazoo; special nieces and nephews Rick Cook, Mat Tyler, Cherie Adkins, Sarah Wirtz, Shirley Zimmerman, Dawn Carr and Scott Tyler; special friends Pastor Steve and Carla Clark; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Hester I. Holland; and a brother, Walter Salton Jr.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
A time for celebrating the life of Grace Irene Tyler will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at the Burr Oak Grange. Pastor Steve Clark of The Rock in Portage will officiate. A meal and time for further fellowship will follow the celebration service. Private burial will take place at Adams Cemetery in Burr Oak.
