Jean L. Tomlinson, age 87, of Colon, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Birch Adult Foster Care Home in Leonidas.
Jean was born Dec. 19, 1924, a daughter of the late, Harvey and Grace (Hendricks) Walters.
Jean graduated from Sturgis High School and continued her education at Olivet College in Olivet.
On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Richard Burr Tomlinson in Sturgis. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.
Jean had been an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colon and a former member of the Colon Garden Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, bowling, golfing and collecting angels.
Jean is survived by four children, William B. (My) Tomlinson of Colon, David C. (Linda) Tomlinson of Colon, Alan R. Tomlinson and friend Jullie of Rome, N.Y., and Victoria A. (Daniel) Sharp of Colon; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Thomas Walters.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jean L. Tomlinson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Colon, with Pastor David Grimm officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Jean to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
