Jeanne (Stoddard) Longacre, 74, of White Pigeon, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, while surrounded by her family and friends, at the Elkhart Center for Hospice. After a valiant fight with colon cancer in 2007, Jeanne’s battle resumed in August 2012 with stage 4 cancer that spread throughout.
Jeanne was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Centreville, to William L. and Ruth (Burr) Stoddard).
A 1958 graduate of White Pigeon High School, she worked for Continental Can Company (Fonda) all her life, until retirement.
Jeanne thoroughly enjoyed her children and grandchildren and spent all of her time with them. She loved her dog, Pretty Girl, and hunting mushrooms and planting flowers in the spring. She loved Christmas with her family, cooking, canning, sewing and crossword puzzles.
She married Ernest Jerry Longacre and lived in Constantine.
Surviving are her four children, Ric Longacre of Elkhart, Ind., Jerry Longacre of Shipshewana, Ind., Billy Longacre and wife Lisa Longacre of Mottville and Deanna Wilcox-Moen and husband Mark Moen of Middlebury, Ind.
Surviving grandchildren are Jerry “JJ” Longacre of Constantine, Morgan Lytle of Elkhart, Ashley Longacre of Elkhart, April Singleton of Three Rivers, Michael Longacre of Mottville, Taylor Longacre of Mottville, Kyle Longacre of Elkhart, Shelby Jean Wilcox of Middlebury, Jessenia Konrad of Three Rivers, Rose, Jacob and Lily Moen of Middlebury and Ricky Longacre of Grand Rapids.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; sisters Ruthie Busz, Bonnie Nottoli and Mary Hath of White Pigeon; sister-in-law Ginger Stoddard of White Pigeon; brother Charles Stoddard of Sidnaw; brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Busz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister Milly Weinberg, brother William R. Stoddard and brother-in-law Rich Nottoli.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
