James Earl “Jim” Rand, 70, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on Oct. 17, 2012 at Three Rivers Health. Jim was born Aug. 27, 1942 in Constantine the son of the late Wallis L. and Florence A. (Barr) Rand-Norton.
Jim graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1960. He later graduated from Michigan State University in June 1965 with a B.A. in Commercial/Graphic Arts. On June 5, 1965 he married the late Beverly Ruth O’Dell. He was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Air Force later retiring as a Major in 1985. He was named citizen of the year in 1979 in Oscoda. He graduated Ivy Tech College, in Kokomo, Ind. in 1988 in Architectural Drafting. He was employed from 1988 to 2003 with several industrial and residential surveying companies. Jim has been a long time and active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained Elder, Choir Member, and served on several boards.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory two children, Connie Smith-Cross (Steve Bandy) of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jim (Heather) Rand II of Gurnee, Ill.; grandchildren, Ben, Spencer and Abi Cross, all of Indianapolis, Ind. and Maggie and Gavin Rand of Gurnee, Ill.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 at the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers-Centreville, 320 N. Main St., Three Rivers, MI 49093 with Rev. Brenda Deily officiating.
Interment will be held in Poe Cemetery following the funeral luncheon.
