Members of the Three Rivers City Commission later this year are expected to award a contract for the job of redesigning the downtown mural mall.
Steven Bishop, representing Grand Rapids-based Fleis and VanDenBrink Engineering presented drawings of the proposed project to Mayor Tom Lowry and commissioners at Tuesday’s meeting.
Funding for the nearly $1 million project came from a $750,000 grant awarded earlier this year to the city from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. The city loaned a $190,000 matching amount on the Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority’s behalf.
The commission complimented Bishop and noted that to comply with stipulations associated with the grant, a contract for the work must be awarded by the end of the year.
A component of the redesigned mural mall calls for replacing the brick pavers with stamped concrete.
