The firearm deer hunting season is underway in Michigan. The Department of Natural Resources is expecting a good year for hunters with the deer population likely higher than last year in the Northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula. Southern Michigan deer numbers could be down due to the outbreak this year of EHD, which has killed over 12-thousand deer in 2012. The firearms deer season runs through November 30th.
