Five people were charged with methamphetamine-related offenses following a police raid Monday at a residence in Sturgis.
Sheriff Brad Balk said members of the St. Joseph County Area Narcotics unit acted on a tip regarding the production of meth at a residence in the 300 block of South Jefferson Street. A search warrant was executed and SCAN unit members found meth, marijuana and waste commonly found as a result of meth production.
Two men and three women, whose names and ages were not disclosed prior to arraignment, were taken to the county jail. Balk said the five potentially face charges of operating and maintaining a meth lab, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, maintaining a drug house and felony firearms.
A 13-year-old was removed from the residence and placed in the custody of protective services.
