Nelvina K. Weiderman, age 79, of Mendon, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 25, 1933 the daughter of Kermit and Sybella (Vander Veen) Parsons, and was a 1951 graduate of Three Rivers High School. Nelvina was married to Donald R. Weiderman on April 14, 1956, and they moved to Mendon in 1957. As a high school student, Nelvina took a co-op job at the Johnson Corporation, and continued to work there for the next 30 years.
Nelvina held all offices with the Mendon Womens Club and was a district secretary for G.F.W.C. She was a volunteer for the Three Rivers Health Auxiliary, a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Bethany Club of Three Rivers. She served as a board member and clerk of the Leonidas Bible Church, and was a 4-H volunteer. Nelvina was an excellent cook, who also enjoyed photography, quilting, crocheting and knitting.
Nelvina is survived by a son, Donald (Sandy) Weiderman of Mendon; a daughter, Linda Bergstedt of Goshen; 8 grandchildren, Perri Weiderman, Joe Hagg, Kara Hagg, Megan Schaser, David Kutz, Kendra Kutz, Nevin Haines, and Hailey Haines; 1 great-grandchild, Cameron Kutz; and a brother, Kermit Parsons of Three Rivers. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Parsons; a sister, Sybella Davidhizer; an infant daughter, Sandra; and her husband, Donald.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 27, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Curtis Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
