Freedom-to-work passes

State Rep. Matt Lori praised the passage of freedom-to-work legislation that he says will allow Michigan workers to earn a living regardless of union membership.

Lori said workers should have the freedom to work any job without being forced to pay for that right to work. He added that unions will have the freedom to make their case to workers, but workers should have the independence to choose not to join a union to keep their jobs.

House Bill 4054 enables private-sector workers to accept jobs without having to pay into organized labor.

Michigan will become the 24th state in the nation allowing freedom to work. Lori said the legislation will potentially bring jobs from other states and overseas that might not have considered Michigan in the past.
