A trust and investment officer with Century Bank and Trust was appointed to the Three Rivers City Commission Tuesday.
Jared Hoffmaster, one of three candidates to seek the post vacated with the resignation of Judy Gilchrist, was chosen by Mayor Tom Lowry and commissioners at their twice-a-month meeting this week.
Danielle Moreland and Larry Matson were also seeking the seat but commissioners agreed Hoffmaster was the best person for the position at this time, in part because he is a resident of the district for which the vacancy existed.
A motion in favor of Moreland, a downtown resident, failed by virtue of a 3-3 vote.
The seat will be Hoffmaster’s until November 2013.
